I love being a Puerto Rican
Where sky and sea are free!
Blue is the Night, but waves a sail,
Swifter than all lights from the mast;
Nothing could come from pole to pole,
Save as a dove that straining whirr,
Like to a maiden dove's white nest.
Earth was a lark upon her air,
Nature was a burning with prayer.
